The Master Plan is a vision for Ypsilanti Township and a land use policy roadmap to achieve it. The Master Plan is required by state law to be updated every five years and plan for land use, transportation, and infrastructure. Ypsilanti Township 2040 will ground the Master Plan in community participation and up to date analysis. The Master Plan will include the development of a shared community vision (September – December 2018) and the drafting and adoption of the plan itself (January – July 2019).
Recreation & Non-Motorized Plan
An inventory of parks, recreation programs, sidewalks and bicycle paths and an analysis of how to improve those systems to serve the needs of the community. The Recreation & Non-Motorized Plan process began in June 2018 and is expected to be complete by January 2019.
The Zoning Ordinance is the Township’s laws governing signs, parking, fences, sheds, and what types of buildings and activities can occur where in the Township. Ypsilanti 2040 will create a state of the art zoning ordinance, implementing the community’s shared vision. Work on the Zoning Ordinance will begin in June 2019 and is anticipated to be done by February 2020.
